Ruritan provides to each club affiliated with Ruritan:

Leadership Development:
Ruritan National not only provides printed material to help community leaders, but conducts free seminars, workshops, conventions and other training. Annually thousands use this training to improve leadership skills to use within their clubs.

Recognition Programs:
Ruritan Clubs and members have the opportunity to win awards for outstanding community service. These awards frequently receive not only local but also regional and national attention and publicity. Because Ruritan has a systematic recognition program, clubs performing outstanding service do not go unnoticed.

The Ruritan Name:
The name Ruritan signifies an organization with a fine reputation among service clubs, other organizations, and government agencies. This name is a valuable asset to the club. Community service activities tend to receive a great deal more support and recognition than projects carried out by a group of citizens or local unaffiliated clubs.

Years of Experience:
Ruritan National has experience in servicing local communities spanning more than seven decades. This experience is shared with member Clubs through published material and trained personnel. Local Clubs are made aware of proven ways to meet and solve problems that arise in their communities.

Discounts:
Ruritan National has negotiated special benefits for members and clubs via a Ruritan Associate Program. For example, RSAIT provides free webpages for Ruritan clubs.

Insurance Programs:
All clubs in good standing with Ruritan National are covered by a general comprehensive legal liability insurance for most Ruritan sponsored activities. Ruritan tries to serve its member clubs with the best possible insurance benefits at the lowest cost. Each Ruritan club sponsored special event (not regular meetings) must have a separate insurance certificate. These certificates can be requested.

Property owned by individual Ruritan Clubs (i.e. club buildings) is not covered by the Ruritan National general comprehensive liability policy provided by Ruritan

Income Tax Exemption:
Each Club affiliated with Ruritan National automatically has federal income tax exemption under a blanket exemption issued to Ruritan National as the parent organization. Ruritan National assists Clubs who may have problems related to IRS. By contrast, unaffiliated Clubs may have difficulty obtaining tax-exempt status and would receive no help filing proper forms or in handling problems that arise with the IRS.

Printed Material:
In addition to RURITAN magazine, Club Officers and Committee Chairs receive newsletters and printed handbooks and material to help the perform more efficiently as community and club leaders. Community Service Guides were developed by Ruritan National to help local Clubs provide services to improve their communities and also to discover what community services are needed.

Club Support:
Ruritan officials at Club, Zone, District and National levels are volunteers elected by Club members and are served by a national staff. An elected National Board of Directors, together with Club delegates at National Conventions create the policies and programs of Ruritan National. District Officers and National Staff implement these policies and programs.
