Ruritan provides personal benefits for each member, as well as for clubs affiliated with Ruritan.

Leadership Development:
Ruritan National not only provides printed material to help community leaders, but conducts free seminars, workshops, conventions and other training. Annually thousands use this training to improve leadership skills. Ruritan members, a former governor of Virginia among them, use this skill throughout their lives.

Recognition Programs:
Ruritan Clubs and members have the opportunity to win awards for outstanding community service. These awards frequently receive not only local but also regional and national attention and publicity. Because Ruritan has a systematic recognition program, people performing outstanding service do not go unnoticed.

The Ruritan Name:
The name Ruritan signifies an organization with a fine reputation among service clubs, other organizations, and government agencies. This name is a invaluable asset to an individual.

Nationwide Fellowship:
Membership in Ruritan provides social opportunities possible only for a local group affiliated with a national organization. In addition to friends made in the local Club, through Zone, District and National meetings Ruritans meet other people with similar interests in different communities and acquaintances become friendships as they meet from time to time. Many members say that their lives have been enriched by this expanded circle of friends which was made possible through affiliation with Ruritan National.

Scholarships:
Membership in a Ruritan Club entitles club members and friends to participate in and benefit from a growing program of financial support for youth to increase their education beyond high school. Annually, more than $100,000 is awarded to several hundred students.

Discounts and Financial Benefits:
Ruritan National has negotiated special benefits for members via a Ruritan Associate Program. For example, members can receive the Ruritan MBNA Visa Card which offers no annual fee, low introductory interest rates, ATM access, and many other benefits. Ruritan Club members can also enjoy discounts with American Express Financial Planning, Choice Hotels International, Alamo Car Rentals, and others.

National Magazine:
RURITAN - All members and many libraries and businesses receive this quality magazine published four times each year - circulation is approximately 40,000 and full of information that you can use.

Insurance Programs:
Insurance (life, accident, cancer, and health): Each member of a Ruritan club is eligible to participate in several optional valuable insurance programs designed exclusively for Ruritan members at attractive rates. In addition, all clubs in good standing with Ruritan National are covered by a general comprehensive legal liability insurance. This covers lawsuits arising from Ruritan sponsored activities.
