ATTENTION CLUB SECRETARIES You can now get fillable Microsoft Word versions of the Member Change Form and the quarterly Attendance and Activities Report. You can find them here. Clubs may use any of these versions of the Community Service Report as fillable forms on their computers. Please print the completed report for your District Governor.
New Club Officers for 2011 Remember to nominate and elect new officers this fall for 2011. When you have your new slate of officers elected, send their names and other information to your district governor, lt. governor, zone governor, and the Ruritan National Office using the form in your Secretary’s Handbook (found between October and November forms) or use the fillable Word form you can download here. Share this information by November 10, if possible. You can also download one of two Excel spreadsheets landscape or portrait to enter your club officers. Save it with your club’s name in the title and email to office@ruritan.org IRS 990 NEWS Clubs will feel Impact of IRS 990 Reporting Changes Beginning in 2008, small tax-exempt organizations like Ruritan clubs, that previously were not required to file returns, are required to file some kind of return - even if it is only the annual electronic notice, Form 990-N, Electronic Notice (e-Postcard) for Tax-Exempt Organizations not Required To File Form 990 or 990-EZ. This filing requirement applies to tax periods beginning after December 31, 2006. Organizations that do not file the notice will lose their tax-exempt status. See the IRS ad on this page for complete details. Many Ruritan clubs, whose gross receipts are normally $25,000 or less, were not required to file Form 990, Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax, or Form 990-EZ, Short Form Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax. With the enactment of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA), these small tax-exempt organizations will now be required to file electronically Form 990-N, also known as the e-Postcard, with the IRS annually. Samples of the e-Postcard are not yet available but when they are, Ruritan National will make copies available to Ruritan clubs. Relations Committee in April 1988. Jerry Walker, chairman of the committee, presented
the first “Rudy” teddy bear to then National President Willis Overby. Other committee
members were Joe Pancione, Sr. and Wayne Bettis. All three of these committee members
would go on to serve Ruritan as National President. To use this Word document print it
